Freda Cliffs Bed & Breakfast

49623 Superior View Road, Atlantic Mine, MI 49905

Freda, Michigan is at the "end of the road", but only 15 miles from  Houghton and Michigan Tech University.  This small historic town was settled in the early 1900's by the Champion Stamp Mill.  Remnants of the old copper processing mill still stand and most residents are descendents from the booming era of copper mining.

Houses were built by the company for mill employees and their families.   Many of these company homes have been restored and updated.   Freda is a place to enjoy quiet and natural beauty any time of the year.  Houghton and Hancock, providing restaurants, shopping, and a more urban setting, are only a 15 mile drive away.

Every season has something for everyone.  Winter brings cross-country skiing,  hiking, snowshoeing, easy to reach snowmobile trails, and quiet beauty.   As spring unfolds, wildflowers begin to bloom everywhere.  Summer offers swimming in cold Lake Superior, more hiking and beach combing.

In late summer, thimbleberries can be picked along virtually every trail and roadside.   During fall, the birches and maples dress up in their best colors of yellows, oranges, and reds.
